Kunti

Daughter of Kuntibhoja, married to #Pandu. She was actually the daughter of Shurasena and thus the sister of Vasudeva (Krishna's father). Shurasena gave her to Kuntibhoja because he was childless.

#Karna
- Son of #Kunti and Surya deva (the Sun god). Given up by Kunti at birth and raised by Radha and Adhiratha (hence also known as Radheya). Adhiratha was Bheeshma's charioteer.
#The Pandavas
- The Pandavas is a collective noun and refers to the sons of #Pandu from #Kunti and #Madri. These are, in order of birth:
#Yudhishthira
- Eldest son of #Pandu and #Kunti. Born of niyoga with Dharmaraj (the God of death and Dharma).
#Bhima
- Second son of #Pandu and #Kunti. Born of niyoga with Marut (the God of wind).
#Arjuna
- Third son of #Pandu and #Kunti. Born of niyoga with Indra (the king of Gods).

Lecture 2: The Mahakavya of the Mahabharata
- Since this was a patriarchal society, the patriarchy goes to Vichitraveerya and therefore Dhritarashtra becomes the king, after #Pandu. In the case of Yudhishthira, the lineage is one more step removed because of the niyoga of #Kunti with Dharma.
