Vichitraveerya

Vichitraveerya was the second son of #Shantanu and #Satyavati. He was weak in body and mind and wasted away to death in his indulgent lifestyle. He did not have any progeny.

Ambika
- Ambika is the second daughter of Kashya. She was abducted from her Swayamvara by Bheeshma and married to Vichitraveerya#.

- Since this was a patriarchal society, the patriarchy goes to Vichitraveerya# and therefore Dhritarashtra becomes the king, after Pandu. In the case of Yudhishthira, the lineage is one more step removed because of the niyoga of Kunti with Dharma.
Ambalika
- Ambalika is the youngest daughter of Kashya. She was abducted from her Swayamvara by Bheeshma and married to Vichitraveerya#.

Matsyagandha#
- The Kuru king #Shantanu fell in love with her and married her. She had two children with Shantanu: Chitrangada and Vichitraveerya#. Both her sons died childless. After her marriage with Shantanu, she was known as Satyavati.
